Exit signs are very useful and yet awfully underrated. We all know that every entrance should have a corresponding exit. But while entrances are much easier to find, finding exits, especially during times of emergency, can be very tricky and critical. It is for such reasons why exit signs should be given special attention whenever one puts up a facility. In installing an exit sign, it is important that the signage is readable and attracts attention during times of emergency.
However, there’s a caveat attached to it. Make your exit sign very eye catching and you might end up paying high electric bills. I have heard a number of shop owners complain about their high electric bills after they installed bright exit signs. Of course, costs should never offset safety considerations but if there’s a way to minimize it, why not? The compromise between function, safety and cost efficiency are Photoluminescent Exit Signs and Self Luminous Exit Signs.
