From time to time, the idea of writing a book crosses my mind. I have been in a number of industries and undertakings and in my opinion, even excelled in some. I therefore would like to share the lessons that will probably be very helpful to a lot of people. However, the realizations that book publishers are not that many, very selective with the people they deal with and generally not easy to get an appointment with quickly extinguishes the thought of moving further.
Book publishing, as I understand, can be a bottomless pit. Looking for good designers who will package your book, printers that will deliver the agreed format on time, distributorship agreements, marketing and many other tasks can each cause an otherwise good title to flop. Here’s what some independent publishers do: They go to a website that does everything needed for the writers. It’s like a working manual of how to publish a book with corresponding interactivity. Writers only need to worry about their manuscripts and selling their masterpieces and everything else needed (from choosing the covers, layouts, paper quality, and type of binding up to the printing) are covered by the site. What a convenient way to get into business. Visit the site and check the prices and figure out when you can start putting the words “Publisher” into your name card and resume. That’s how easy it is.
